You should tell us more about your computer. is it a 486 or 586? how big is the hard drive? how much memory does it have. do you have a slot for a cd rom? It may not be a good Idea to put 95 on your computer if it does not have enought space and memory. let us know this things and we may be able to help more.

I just installed win95 on a 486dx2 50mhz laptop. Right now it is booting ...

taking rather long ....

"windows wird geladen" ...

(Windows3.11 ran really fast -- faster than windows2000 on my amd k6-400mhz.)

Plug and play are being configured ....

Rebooting ....

It took about 15 seconds to start up.

Im In --- and my opinion -- this shit is FAST!!
Windows Explorer is as fast as win98 on my 400mhz!!

Control panel takes about 2 seconds to fill up.

However, i have no progs installed and minimal!!

I was running Win 98 on an old 486DX, 300mb hard drive, 24 MB Ram, and it worked just fine. The laptop originally had Win95, I installed Win98 by using Direct Connect, with a computer running Win98 sharing that CD-rom Drive, I had to uninstall it now the computer is useless without an OS. I was told I can use a program for DOS called Interserver to share the CD-rom from my dersktop but that didn't work In school I was given Win 3.1 plus some updates to Win3.11, Win 95, & Win98 OSR2 on a cd-rom. The Win 3.1, & Win 95 are in diskette form, meaning they are seperated into several 1.44mb folders in order for them to fit on Diskettes. I would gladly send win 3.11 or Win 95 for free through email i f you would like!! I haven't tried it, just tell me if it worked.
