I have a 386 PC with Windows 3.1 and Dos 5.0. In an attempt to copy information from its hard drive to our computer network, I put in a 3-Com Etherlink III network card. However, after adding the network card, I received an error message (CMOS display type mismatch) during the boot up (POST) process. The message is very difficult to read because the screen is constantly scrolls vertically. Even after removing the network card and switching the video card to other slots, the message (and vertical scrolling) keeps occurring. The monitor works, and the vertical scroll is fine. I can get into the BIOS setup from the keyboard, but I can't read anything because of the vertical scrolling. Could the network card have corrupted/damaged the motherboard (Seagate ST3390A)? I need the 386 for other purposes, therefore a solution to my problem would be greatly apprecatiated. Thanks.
