I'd install calmira113.3 and it was working perfectly. than I decided to change the startup screen using a program i downloaded fron the net i was called "WINBLOWS" when i run the "setup.exe" that comes within, my system goes to a black screen that saids "error loading PROGMAN" and I'd change the system.ini shell=progman.exe to shell=c:\calmira\calmira.exe.

I was not sure what i did, but i also add something in the win.ini i think that saids "run= " and I type in progman.exe than i save it and type in win.com to restart the system, so it loads and only show the win3.11 logo and go back to the black screen and displaying a new error "system.ini cannot be found" and something "you need to run window setup to get system.ini"
So please can anyone help me, im desperate.

cheers
James.H

James sir!

Ya got yerself in a little bit of a bind I see. Here's how you fix the problem:

Boot your computer to the DOS prompt. Then type "edit c:\windows\win.ini". On the line that you added "run=progman.exe", remove the "progman.exe", so that the line just shows "run=".

Save the file, then open "system.ini". On the line that says "shell=c:\calmira\calmira.exe", change it to "shell=c:\windows\progman.exe", and save the file.

Exit the editor back to DOS, then you can type "win" to start windows. As far as changing your startup screen, I would suggest downloading "winlogo", which is right on the same page as where you downloaded Calmira (scroll down, it's toward the bottom). it works fine, i've used it for over a year now with no problems.

Let us know how you make out!

James

Thank you for the help, i had done the steps you guys told me about, but something has changed. The windows is back to normal, but not all when i try to run some files and application, it says something like " need a new version of Microsoft" and in the control panel all the application inside are gone, the only items in it is the sound and fax no other stufss like colors, desktop etc.., when i try to run the calmira again it saids need a new version of Microsoft windows to open this application. same goes for others.

thank you again

Oh boy!

Sounds like you need to re-install windows. If i were you, I would avoid that Winblows program at all costs - sounds like it blew your Windows away LOL.
