Windows 3.11 Newsgroup and DOS 6.22

I have an old laptop that I had to install dos 6.22 in order to make it work, I then got windows 3.11 and installed it and now I put the icq version that works with it and I go to load it and it says can not load in msdos. In order to load windows it boots into DOS then I have to type win, is their a way to either make it select what to boot to or make it boot into just windows, with out editing the autoexec.bat and adding win to it?

Only way is to add
C:\Windows\Win.exe (or just WIN)
as last line in autoexec.bat
Whats the problem with that?

Any programs that require only Windows to work won't because it says its in dos mode
