I also have a copy (Not shrinked wrapped) of MS Office Professional (Accademically Prieced, Now with Access 2.0) LOL Damm that's old.

If you look further (Disk Op. System), you'll still find people using DOS 6.x. It boots up faster than windows for a start. A 32Mb 100MHz DOS box will boot up faster than a 2Gb 3GHz Windows XP box.

Here we go again....

Yes, people still use DOS/Win3.1.

Yes, people still use old computers (especially those of us who are cheap and they still do the job they're intended to do).

Yes, people are just "amazed" that other people hang onto old stuff when newer stuff is supposed to be "better".

Yada, yada, yada....

"...I still have a copy of Windows 3.11 For Workgroups STILL SHRINKED WRAPED!"

You little lucky @#$%^! :)

I have a Mac Plus I got for $20 on a thrift store. Works like a charm, and has the little fan thing you put on top.

There were two of them for that price, but I was a n00b back then and had no idea they were at 10 times that price on eBay. :/

If I connect my microwave to my PC, will I be able to download food? I posted a question, haha

Actully I have a 386 Thinkpad, PC-DOS 7 with Y2K and LAN Access thru a Parallel Port RJ45 Adaptor linked to my Router.

Software Arachne, DOSLynx, Word5.5 etcetc

So yes post 8 and a waste of Forum Space and probably Frankie566 has gone away in shame that he is using VISTA...

I use windows 3.11 for fun. Like old times, even though i dont know what "old times" was like as i was born in 1991!
3.1 is much more exciting than any old xp. first off, its the fact that its one of the earliest kind of os with internet.
Second, i just like old stuff, i like how sound cards (SB) were 3 times the size of a graphics card now.

I found it like a project, first internet, then word, then games on dos and win31 games. Basically, you can do everything you can do now on win31, except in a much smaller perspective. :D and the excitement that you get the cd driver set up correctly in dos :D

i baught a Windows 3.1 (not WFW)on ebay, shrinkwrapped with dos6. until i baught a wfw311 specially for internet, plus, if you have the right driver for an older graphics card in win31 you can still have as many colours as a modern day machine, my win31 machine can get 3 million colours via the driver :D Lovely colours :D

I like chocolate!

Windows 3.1x and DOS combinations on old machines are always fun to work with. I have an old p133 Compaq Laptop that dual-boots Win 95 and 3.11 WFWG on two seperate partitions.

I have lots of old DOS games which prefer the true 16bit environment to run in. Compaq is very good at keeping an archive of it's old 3.1x drivers fortunatly.

I agree with people that liked the old Creative Labs Sound-Blaster 16. It is a fantastic card for it's age and has a great midi soundbank. Good midi support is so essential if you want to run old DOS games.

ogee.
