OS: Windows 3.11
CPU/Ram: Via Eden
Comment:

Hi,
I am using a half-sized CPu having VIA Eden 400 Mhz Processor and it has as chipset, "Via Twister chip with integrated savage4 2d/3d/video accelerator".

I'm running Windows 3.11 (thro' DOS) and the resolution of the default screen it produced was not good at all. So i went to the Windows setup and changed the display from VGA to SuperVGA and the Windows would not atart. So i had to go back and change it back to VGA.

I was wondering if you have any info abt the drivers taht i can use in my machine (which runs Windows 3.11) and enhance its resolution.

thanks
Ranga

You can only achieve higher resolutions by installing the correct video driver for your display adapter. Understandably, the development of drivers for Win3xx was discontinued some time ago - I'm doubtful that there is one for that set, you may have to live with the default resolution

Give me ambiguity or give me something else

So there is NO drivers available for Windows 3.11 at all? If you are aware of any please do give me info.

In that case, is there any other way of improving the picture resoltion?

Thanks
Ranga

In all curiosity would it be possible for someone to make drivers for an older operating system?

Or is it some big secret? lol

Drivers are created by programmers, most of whom are human. Not much incentive in developing 3.1 software (or Commodore64 either)

Without the specific driver the only way you're going to improve the picture is with Windex®

Give me ambiguity or give me something else

Easiest solution would be to buy a VGA Card which has drivers!

Google is your friend. Unfortunately, I don't recall offhand where I found WfW 3.11 video drivers for my P3, but I am able to go as high as 1280*1024*24-bit color on mine with a sucky integrated video card. I suspect you'll find decent drivers with enough googling. Good luck.
