i am having a similar problem as someone else loading windows 3.1 in enhansed mode. i am running a dos program from windows 3.1 but it will not load unless windows is in the enhanced mode. the computer tells me that a file is corrupted (ifsmgr.386). i cannot find this file
on any of the install disks for 3.1. does anyone know if this file is on the install disks for windows version 3.11. help

Windows Installable File System Manager
If it's on the installation disk, it will be in the form of ifsmgr.38_ (compressed)
It's part of Win311 - not so sure it's used in 3.1
Perhaps if you explained your actual problem instead of vaguely alluding to it, a solution might be reached.
It would be helpful to know how much RAM is installed.
Are you certain you're running Windows 3.1 and not 3.11?
Is there any particular reason you need to run this (nameless) DOS program from Windows? Some DOS programs just won't work unless they're launched from a true DOS prompt.

I'm not so sure about Windows 3.11! I can only find this file on my Windows for Workgroups 3.11 Install Disk Set.
It could be the case that some Windows Program(s) Setup installs this file as well?

Oops - that's correct Mick - I'm running WfW.
I blame M$ for making the names so "distinctive" ; )
It's definitely timestamped 11/1/93 3:11 AM
As is often the case, more info from the petitioner would prove helpful in determining a solution.
