I had an old 14.4 modem in my 486 that just died. I have tried to replace it with three isa modems I have one 28.8 & the other two 33.6. The problem is, when I install the modem in the pc & turn it on the pc will not recognize the mouse. It will go through the ram check, testing extended memory & then try to load the mouse in dos & then display "no mouse found" I take the modem out & reboot the computer & it says mouse installed on com port 2. I have tried all three modems & the mouse refuses to load in dos everytime when booting. Any idea what the problem is? Its a 486 dx 66 mhz pc.

The modem is using the same interupt as the mouse. IRQ 3 Set the modem to com3 IRQ 4, unless you don't have a com1.

Ok, I will try that. I have run into that conflict before but still the mouse always loaded, but would lock when I connected to the net. Will change before installing & see what happens.
