Disk 6 & 7 of Windows 3.1/3.11 (Not Workgroups) mainly contains Printer Drivers and Supplimental Files. If not selected during setup you will not be asked to insert them. The same applies to Windows for Workgroups 3.1/3.11 Disks 6 to 8 which also contain Network Drivers.

Note: Not all versions of Windows 3x contain the same number of disks. Earler versions of 3.1 only had 6 disks for example.

Well.. i have a set of win3.1 floppies i got for $3 but the box only had 5 disks in it. So, i went for it and i was able to install nearly the entire OS w/out the 6th disk many times on my old comps. Basically you really dont need the 6th disk, also i think it does have some wallpaper on it because i never had any wallpaper after the 5 disk installs, but thats just me.

There you go then! I think the only files you may want are the SYMBOL & WINDINGS TTF Fonts. Unless you have a printer that is listed that is!

If you open PRTUPD.INF (Change .INF to .TXT for ease of opening - It will even tell you which printers are supported!

Most of the files on disk 6 are:

EX_ = EXE (.exe File)
DR_ = DRV (Driver)
WP_ = WPD (Windows Printer Driver)
HL_ = HLP (Help File)
FO_ = FON (Font File)
TT_ = TTF (True Type Font)

<giggles> Wallpapers are in Bitmap format (BM_= BMP)and are mainly if not all on Disks 3 & 4
