I tried installing Windows 3.1 on my other computer because I need it to install the Windows 98 and there is something wrong with the files on the WINDOWS 3.1 DISK #1. So I was wondering if someone new how I could get the exact same files from somewhere and put them onto Disk one. If you know where or how to get them please let me know.

I recently bought a laptop. The guy from whom I bought it took of all the software. I want to put software on for windows 98 (which was on it before), but the guy said that I need to load the laptop with windows 3.1. I did that, but when I restart my computer and type c:>win, it says : "you started your computer with a version of MS-DOS incompatible with this version of Windows. Insert a Startup diskette matching this version of Windows and then restart." Does any one know what I have to do or get, I'm not so good with computers. Thanks,

The simplest thing to do (assuming that it is a reasonably decent laptop, e.g. has a Pentium processor) is to buy a brand new copy of Windows 98 and install that. Since this is the Windows 3.1 forum, however, I should advise you to get hold of some DOS disks, format your hard drive, and install DOS, followed by Windows 3.1. There are a couple of excellent links posted above this where you can download install disks, as long as you have the license, which since you say that "guy from whom I bought it took of all the software", then I am guessing that you do not. Therefore I would recomment downloading DR-DOS from http://www.drdos.net/
