Comment:
I am trying to redo a computer for a co-worker. It is an older Compaq Armada with a PII processor. I have reinstalled DOS 6.22 and Win 3.11. I am trying to get the PCMCIA to function with a Panasonic external CD drive, but cannot seem to get the proper drivers for either the card or the drive. Ultimately, I am going to install 98SE, but it is on a CD, so I need this access first. Please advise with any suggestions. Email me if more specifics are needed. Thanks

well, what I would do is remove MSDOS and replace it with IBM pcDOS2000, it has native pcmcia support...then just add the drivers for the panasonic cd-rom and run win98 setup in DOS
this is what I would do

If the pci card is a controller card then it should work without drivers, you should download dos cd-rom drivers, best bet would be universal ones. Most setup programs will do a quick search for the drive before it installs files. When the drive is set up in dos then windows will see it and use it as well.
