I'm trying to install windows 3.0 on a dos 6.22 system. The problem is when loaded from my cd i wrote(with 1.0, 3.1 and 3.11) the files were damaged, so i made floppy disk versions from the original image files i have, still ahve problems. Win3.0 installs but my program groups are not created, but when i use both cd and floppy disks for installation (made floppys of damaged disks) it works but then hangs at creating program groups. Should i just try installing from a fresh set of floppys as the ones i used are a bit mangled with age. Also any links to a Windows3.0 user guide site would be good. Thanks

It is possible that the original files are damaged, which would mean that you would have to find the disks again. I always made backups of everything since they came on floppy disks, an un-reliable form of media.
There should be a way around it. You could just install from the first one which shows no program groups, then make each group yourself. It takes time, but it is better than nothing.

THanks all. I did recreate the floppy disks. Installed like a charm, it still didn't make the program groups but i manually entered them. I couldn't beleive that there was only one group on 3.0 at first. It's been so long since i've used it.
