Hello! Is there anybody out there using Win 3.1, English version, willing to e-mail me the files win.cnf and vgalogo.lgo? I decided to experiment a little bit, but I' ve got the Greek version. Many thanks!

Think i've only got the wfw311 versions..i'll look a little later..
You may not be able to boot windows though with a win.com made from the english ones (i might be wrong!)..are you sure you don't have their equivelants in greek ? W31 has to assemble a "win.com' somehow during the install process, even in the greek version (incidentally, the only part that matters is the extensions.. .cnf, .lgo , and .rle ) so see if they're on your setup disks in compressed format ..the extensions you'd be looking for would be .cn_ , .lg_ and .rl_ -the first part of the filename might well be in greek, but the extensions would still be the same...
Meanwhile i'll look on my old backup disks when i get back later...
Then you can get them off the floppies and use the 'expand' command to decompress and rename their extensions

You've got mail... You'll need Windows' extract utility to expand the files. I assume you have Win 3.1 and not WfWG 3.11.

I' ve already been e-mailed the files, and I really want to thank those people who have sent them to me! Well, dominicus,I' ve got the Greek equivalents of win.cnf and vgalogo.lgo, as well as the Greek version of win.com, created by these two files during set up. However, while booting, the Greek version of win. com presents a VERY annoying splash screen, a legal warning stating that "this software is copyrighted by Microsoft, and everybody using illegal copies will be prosecuted under maximum penalty allowed by law"!!! My copy of Win 3.1 is legal, of course, however I cannot stand watchinng this message everytime my old Compaq boots up! I do not know why the Greek version of Win 3.1 presents this screen, but I' ve been told that the English version does not! This is why I needed the files, to make up a new win.com to boot up my computer, without been obliged to waste four seconds watching legal warnings. Many thanks, again!

Fascinating..i assume then that bizarre "warning" must be buried in the greek vgalogo.lgo file...
Good luck, anyways...
