Would it be possible to copy a 350mg drive onto a partition of my win98 machine and be able to use all my win3.1 programs with my win98 machine?
I'm thinking about trying it but thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone more experienced than I would know of major problems I might experience in doing so.
Note I plan on doing this on a secondary hard drive I just bought (3.2gig).

The answer is no, if the primary drive that Win98 is installed upon is FAT 32. If you are not running a Fat 32 file system, then the answer potentially is yes, provided you have a boot disk or are able to copy three files from the Dos boot disk which *must* match the version installed under your 350MB drive as follows to the root of C:\>
command.com ----command.dos
io.sys----------io.dos
msdos.sys-------msdos.dosYou need also to create a config.dos and autoexec.dos startup file that points to "DOS" folder on the 350MB drive or copy thereof.
This works better with Win98 release 1 rather than win98 SE.
Hope this helps

Eric, save yourself a lot of grief and go get yourself PartitionMagic 5.0. You can painlessly set up a partition of whatever size you want and run Win3X in complete safety. I've created a partition on my hard drive using PartitionMagic and I am running Win3.1 on it. And it runs smoother than a baby's bottom!!
