Win 3.1-Unable to Opern MS word 4.0

OS: DOS 6.22
CPU/Ram: 486/ 8 MB

When I try to open MS word 4.0 in my 486 computer a window comes and requests that I should first exit windows and load SHARE.exe.
But still it shows the same problem.. Please advice.......

the computer doesn't have near enough memory in it to run programs. add some ram.

8MB should be more than enough memory for Win3x & Word 4.0 But you need to install SHARE via Config.Sys

The following example shows how you can use the install command in your CONFIG.SYS file to load SHARE. In this example MS-DOS searches for the file SHARE.exe in the DOS directory on drive C.

install=c:\dos\share.exe

SHARE.EXE was first provided with Office for Windows 4.0 and MS-DOS 6.2 onwards. Office installed it for you but Word did not! Nice one Microsoft!
