Win 3.11/SBLive conflict.

My computer has a Soundblaster Live (SBLive) soundcard. I'm running Windows 98, but have a separate partition in which I run DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11. If I initialize the soundcard in autoexec.bat, Win 3.1 will not start. In fact, typing "win" at the DOS prompt and hitting ENTER is just like hitting the reset button. Win 3.1 doesn't even run long enough to fenerat a bootlog. The card initializes using IRQ9 and port "e400." I've carefully isolated the problem, and it's the soundcard initialization that makes the difference. This isn't a big deal, and I'm not interested in workarounds. However, it's piqued my curiosity and become a challenge. Does anyone know what happens when Win 3.1 starts that would cause a reset this way? (Creative Labs won't even consider the question, so they're no help.)

Bob, Im not familiar witht hat particular card, however there may be a few things to check. First check the card physically for any jumpers and setting that may be on the card. There may be a conflict between what the card had jumpered, and your software settings for the card. Also, check your win98 settings for the card to see what windows has listed for the irq and adress range..If different from what you have set in the starup files, try setting the software to these settings....Hope this can help...
