My friends computer, a 486DX Compaq, running Windows 3.1 and Lantastic 6, was working fine. No changes were made to the machine (i.e. no installs or removals, etc.) Last week, he tried to start it and the following error message was displayed:
ESX88WIN.386 was unable to locate a usuable interrupt channel. Please check your software/hardware configuration and restart your computer.
Restarting, of course, did not fix it! I tried to start in Standard, but to no avail. Then I had it do a bootlog. All went fine until:
LoadFail=GDI.EXE failure code is 02
I no longer recall (or have any books/manuals) on W3.1, so I am at a loss. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks a lot everyone, in advance!

You may have corrupted your GDI.exe file. I believe that it is neccesary to have this file. Try reinstalling Windows. If you don't have your original copy anymore, go to any abandonware site to look for one. A great place to start is www.abandonwarering.com. With any luck, you can also find windows 3.11 instead.

HEHEHEHE so your computer doesent run Dont reinstall I repeat dont it will run two windows at the same time and youll get errorrs like sound.dll is corrupted and a bunch of other .dll files Plus it will never run again!so TO BAD! get another computer
