hi new here so if i ask something allready ansewered sorry. i have a old! comoaq pc running 3.i w/2 floppy drives a 3.5 and a larger one.i want to try to up grade to win 95 not for internet just old games(to keep my nieces off mine)so is it doable? or just wipe 3.1 an reload? btw prev owner erased a lot of files/driver and tryed to up grade. thanks

You will need to know specs of your pc..
386? /??
..does not convey much apart from it is probably more suited to DOS Gaming:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/138349/en-us

Processor Intel 486SX2/50MHz
Memory Four MB of RAM standard, upgradable to 56MB
Hard Drive 340MBIf it really is a Presario 650 then it'll be adequate to run Win95, although you need to increase the amount of RAM beyond the stock 4Mb, as that is barely enough to run Windows at all (let alone well). The hard drive could be larger, although a 486 will be limited to somewhere between 540Mb - 2Gb (depending) without the use of overlay software or a controller card
Clean installs tend to go better
We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true

Yeah, we ran DEC [Tandy] 386DX33, no 387, and 4MB ram.
Nobody got any wind burns.
LOL
If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

hi sorry i didnt have more info last night just tryed it this pm so here it is.it runs ,80486/50mhz win 3.10 dos 6.22 the c/: drive says it has 12612224 bytes also runs a coprosesser in enhanced mode? the date on the panel reads 11/12/93 yikes knew it was old. btw thanks for your help.

We'd already found the (original) specs, but good of you to try.
12612224 bytes would indicate a 12Mb drive, which isn't too likely - perhaps that's the amount of free space.
The amount of installed memory would be the deciding factor - try the mem command
Minimum requirements for Win95 can be easily found - higher specs will naturally run better

i'l try but it's realy messed up in there what programs that show up are all grouped in applications btw i froget to ask do u need some kind of disk for win 3.1 before loading w95 as i have no disks for 3.1 as it was a gift. thanks

If you plan to undertake a full install of W95 it is best to start afresh and format the drive beforehand:
