Comment: I have an older computer on which I would like to install windows 3.1. That computer currently does not have a working floppy drive. (Several attempts to install one have beeen unsuccessful. There appears to be a problem with the power output to that device.) It does, however, have a working CD-ROM drive. My question is this: if I burn the DOS and Windows files on to a CD, can I install from there? Of course, I understand that I'll need to set up a way to boot from the CD. But would I have to burn one CD for each DOs/Windows disk? Or can I combine them on one or two, and simply set up a different directory for each disk?

Reply: (edit)Probably too old to boot from CD. Can you even get into BIOS ? If not then forget it; get the FDD working ... Best

Reply: (edit)It sure is possible! Go to newdos.yginfo.net/msdos71/index.htm to download a CD-ROM version of DOS or Windows 3.1.

Reply: (edit)Yes it is possible to combine DOs & Windows on one CD. But getting your PC to boot is your major problem! Please reply with a message to let us all know we are on the right track with your problem
