Hi.. Im new.. Let me just get straight to the point.... I like windows 3.1 even though I am using Vista (which sucks) and what im using are : a >64MB Lexar JumpDrive FAT32 format< and DOSbox 0.63 (dos emualtor for games and stuff). I installed windows 3.1 on the jump drive using dosbox's "vitual drive as actual drive" function.. i have the vitual drive "C:\" set to my Jumpdrive "G:\" and ran the setup off my hardrive itself (SUCCESS!!!)..>i can run windows 3.1 off the jumpdrive on the other computers in my house but I have to on this one becuase i only have a shortcut to the install and the target file is hidden beyond my reach (no big deal)< i pretty much have all the capabilities to "run windows inside windows" with no problem... but i want to install the WIN32's on the JumpDrive but it says I need to be in Enhanced mode (which I know how to do) I made a .bat file as a shortcut on the jumpdrive so i dont have to type "C:\windows\win. Ill just type win at the prompt... but I cant get in Enhanced mode... I really want to be able to use the win32's.... Any help would save me the trouble and money of having a heart attack (at 13...) and a medical bill because this computer is my favorite and i dont want to destory it..
Curiousity only injured the cat. I finished it off.. Muahahaha...
umm... this is off topivc but, i need to find a way to create/change the mbr on the jumpdrive (if possible).. My computers BIOS actually supports booting off the jumpdrive!! but the problem is when i wanted to install dos 7.10, it says DISK I/O (Input/Output) error... I think this may have something to do cuz the jump drive is 60.9MB (ACTUAL SIZE>THANKS WINDOWS FOR TELLING THE TRUTH) The jumpdrive is now formmtted to FAT... I thought this would work if i used winimage to write the install disk image to the jumpdrive (AND IT WORKED NO PROBLEM) but when i try to boot itll either say DISK I/O ERROR or INVALID DISK..... IS THERE REALLY SUCH A WAY I CAN DO THIS???

win /r - Real Mode (only Windows 3.0) win /s - Standard Mode win /3 - 386 Enhanced Mode
If you just type "win" it'll run in the highest mode it's able to - which should be enhanced mode for just about anyone.
However, enhanced mode doesn't work under DOSBox yet. At least not 0.63 - you could try the latest CVS version (precompiled Win32 binaries available from http://cvscompile.aep-emu.de/dosbox.htm).
Enhanced mode does work under QEMU (http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/). This emulator can also run many 32-bit operating systems (Win9x, OS/2, Linux etc.) but it's not as good at games. It's also more difficult to set up because it doesn't have a built-in DOS or direct access to real disks; you have to prepare a virtual hard disk and install a real version of DOS on it.
