Hi elri: This is a guess, but I think first you need to make sure that you Mavis B program was dedigned for Win 3.1 & not Win 95 or 98. Next thing is to find out if when installing if any thing was added to autoexec.bat, win.ini, or system.ini (last 2 are in Windows directory). What you need to do in order to see directories & files is to try c:/>dosshell (DOS type File Manager). You might have to reboot, then hit the F5 key after you see the system information during boot. This will bypass autoexec.bat & config.sys & give you a DOS prompt, but if the dosshell command doesn't work, then type c:/>cd/dos (this will get you to DOS directory), then c:/dos>dosshell to open. Once inside you need to use Tab key, arrow keys, & Alt key to move around, unless you have mouse functions. To make changes to autoexec.bat file you need to get back to c:>, then type c:/>edit autoexec.bat (make sure to make a copy of the files to a floppy disk that you use the EDIT utility on as a backup). Same thing to EDIT win.ini or system.ini, but you must get to c:/>windows, then c:/windows>edit win.ini or system.ini, you will be looking for any referance to Mavis B files & remove them. I hope this helps, good luck. Z |
