Comment:

When I run some applications in my emulated windows for workgroups system; I recieve an error message which says something about a truetype font and then a message which says a general protection fault happened in GDI.exe.
Thanks in advance.

Running software in Emulation quite often will lead to strange behaviour, therefore as this forum is for Windows 3.x, I would suggest you post in the W2K Forum

Virtual PC 2004 is after all software written for later versions of Windows.

This is a quote from an article

"GDI is the graphic interface that windows uses, so yes, you probably need to reinstall Windows"

But at the end of the day you are still running W2K NOT W3.x !

The OS you run VPC under is entirely irellevant to the os inside of it as the emulated OS functions entirely independantly , so i would think this is as good a forum as any..(unless VPC itself crashed, of course, then it would be a host OS question).
GDI errors happen in Win3x a lot, it's just one of those things, often an incompatibility between the video card/driver and w31..this happens in particular with s3 cards (i can attest to that one myself!)..and i know VPC used to emluate the S3 virge (at least it does in 4x)..unfortunately you can't choose which video card it emulates, so if it still uses the s3 , you're just going to have to be careful which programs you run on wfw31 in VPC (i can't run mask98 on my WfW31 VPC emulation, for instance, as i get those gdi.exe errors ).
Re: fonts..some fonts can crash this combination too..you just need to de-install the problem ones...

Oops..think it's the s3 trio, not s3 virge , as i said,,problem's still the same, however..

Thanks for the replies. It must be the s3 drivers which are the problem as i have them installed.
