Comment: Hellow, The dos 7.1 and dual boot installation was a complete succes thanks very much. I wanted to install windows for workgroups 3.11 and it installed properly. but after installation i wanted to start wfw but ity wont start :-S i get a message "PageOverCommit too high in system.ini" or something like that( i have the dutch version and i dont know exacly how to translate it in english) So i wanted to edit system.ini and lower the number, the error message says also that the number must be under 4, so i wanted to do that but in the system.ini file is nothing about PageOverCommit. What i have to do????? Please help me. Thanks in advance (iam from belgium, sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand me well)

About WFW's message "PageOverCommit too high in system.ini", I'm sure you didn't read this Knowledge Base article with detailed information and solutions: http://newdos.yginfo.net/msdos71/doskbd4.htm As we said in this forum before, Win/WFW 3.x will show that message if the XMS memory is MORE THAN 256MB. That's why I stated clearly on the main page: "If you have MORE THAN 256MB XMS memory on your system, and want to run Win/WFW 3.x from DOS, then please make sure you have read Knowledge Base Article D4." (available from the link above) ---------------

Reply: P.S. Since you have 768MB RAM on your system (as you mentioned in the CPU/RAM column), please set the value of PageOverCommit in SYSTEM.INI to 1. BTW: Dual-boot between DOS and WinXP (when installing DOS over WinXP, as you have done) is easy, isn't it? ---------------

Sound, network, video (im stuck with that ugly VGA 640*480 16color display)" Oh, on a modern system, maybe you have to stand this, since most manufacturers no longer provide Win3.x drivers for new hardware, such as sound, network and so on. Despite this fact, Win3.x will still work ok of course. "BTW is it possible to turn of my pc in dos???" Sure, simply type "SHUTDOWN S" in pure MS-DOS 7.10, then the system will be turned off as long as the system has an ACPI power. MS-DOS 7.10 full version already contains this command. ---------------

Windows 3.1 Himem.sys won't work. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
