I am running virtual pc on windows XP with the guest pc running dos 6.22 and WFW 3.11. I'm trying to get the networking to work but have been unsuccessful so far. I've installed the network card drivers for WFW as well as TCP/IP. Everytime I start it up it tells me my network adaptor or protocol is not configured properly. My host pc is connected to a cable modem through router/switch which is shared with two other pc's (one running wfw and one running win 98). The connectix help file refers you to there web site for help with installing wfw but since the sold out to Micro$oft, it is no longer there. It just links you to the M$ help page for virtual pc (which of course conveniently doesn't seem to say anything at all about win 3.1 or wfw). Does anybody have any suggestions or should I post a message in the win xp forum. Thanks.

aaah , i think youve got two tcp/ip protocols goin at the same time, now im not an expert on virtual pc anything, but i do have an (small) idea about protocols and that is that once youve configured one (as in XP) all the other systems will actually use the same ones -as is basic in any windows on windows system (im assuming that virtual is like WOW) have you tried disabling all the net protocols (of course answer yes if asked if on a LAN) on anything but the host system (XP) you might find all the systems use the same tcp/ip and , so the simplest solution is sometimes the best.....
(hey OK gimme a break ive not had any net access fore a month and ive 'ad a few to celebrate bein' back online)
but i hope it helps......

Virtual PC 5.x uses the Intel 2104x/2114x 10/100 mbps Ethernet Controller (contrary to the information stated in the help file and documentation). This driver can be downloaded from the Intel website. In addition, also install the MS 32bit TCP/IP stack for Windows 3.11 (WFW) which can be easily found allover the internet.

I couldn't find the drivers at Intel's site, but there are Windows for Workgroups drivers available for this network card in the ZIP file here:

I'm just now trying them in Virtual PC, and they seem to be working correctly.

Freak, you where right. I installed drivers for the NIC in my system not the emulated one. After I removed the old drivers and installed the right drivers, everything worked like a charm. However, the WFW additions file (mouse intagration, file share, etc.) that is supposed to be on the connectix web site is no longer there and Micro$oft only supports down to win98. Does anybody have a copy of the WFW additions for virtual PC 5.1? Thanks.

Hmm, not sure where to get the Win 3.1 additions, but as for file sharing, the DOS additions seemed to work fine in WfW 3.11 for me.
