Updating to Windows 95 from 3.1

I am trying to update to Windows 95 from 3.1 The message I get says that I already have an operating system and I need an update to get to where I need to be to be able to put the Windows 95 installation on. Please help!

There is a simple way to fix this. Simply go to the DOS prompt, and rename WIN.COM to WIN.OLD. After doing this, simply restart installation.

Aww man that's brilliant... I tried changing the attributes to hidden of the directory and I tried moving it to a different drive... and some other stuff too... Sheesh I'm so stupid :/

OK, so I am stupid, or at least innocent in the ways of DOS.

How do I go to the DOS prompt and rename win.com to win.old?

Fraid you got to spell it out for me guys...
