I installed 5 of the seven disks on my portable pc and it rebooted and now it reads from the A: drive and says Non-system disk or disk error when it boots up. There is nothing in the A:drive and it never booted from that drive before. Where can I download a boot disk for win 3.1.

Sounds like the bootup files got erased from your c: drive. That would make your laptop turn to the A: drive demanding a bootable floppy.
Boot disks for Win3.1 are really DOS boot disks. Most people today use DOS version 6 or DOS 6.22
www.kewlone.com has DOS. Go here:
http://www.kewlone.com/#Rep7
and download the DOS disk files and the boot disk file on the right hand side of your screen.
Transfer the system files from the floppy to the hard drive using these steps.
1. Make sure you have a bootable floppy in the a: drive with the file sys.com also on the floppy.
2. From the a: prompt, type the following command:
sys.com c:
3. This should transfer the boot files to your hard drive and make the hard drive bootable.
Regards,
Preston

I did that and now it says incorrect DOS version and I do not know the previuos version. What is the oldest version of DOS I can download? By the way thanks Preston!!
