Transfer Win98 to a Win3.1 computer

i have an old comp. and a newer one. My new one has win98 and a whole bunch of files i want on my win3.1 comp. Is there any way i can transfer all of the files or just win98 from one computer to another without going out an buying any hardware or anything??

Hi Ryan: I think the easiest way to transfer files between the 2 different OSs is a software I think called Laplink, where you can hook 2 PCs through a serial port. There's no easy way to transfer data between the FAT 16 & FAT 32 systems, but maybe use a web site that you can download you files to, & then copy to your newer PC.

Make sure your system meets the Windows 98 standard system requirements (which differ depending on the version of Win98, and are available at microsoft.com).

Win98 won't work on anything below a 486-66 and even then it's sad. win95 is probably the best you can do. To transfer stuff try putting win 3.1 HDD in win98 computer and copying between drives.

How about updating from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. Is there a site from where Windos 95 Upgrade can be downloaded?

Are you sure? It looks to me that you can only download internet explorer 4.0 and outlook express FOR windows 95, NOT win 95 itself. Correct me if I'm wrong.
