Thinkpad BIOS

I´m trying to upgrade the BIOS on my IBM Thinkpad 755c, but the upgrade menu says that I must connect the AC-adapter AND a fully charged battery. The battery in my TP is worn out, and I don´t want to buy a new one. Does anyone know how to get around this and upgrade the BIOS without buying a new battery?

the battery is part of the circuit. If the system loses power during a BIOS flash you will have a non responsive computer with no way to recover. Not worth the risk.

ergmiester, Thanks for the answer. I have another question: Do you (or anyone else)know if the BIOS update is necessary to install Win95/98 on the Thinkpad 755c?
Thanks in advance
