Taking advantage of new RAM

I just added a mem expansion card and have gone from 8MB RAM to 24MB. I have run Wintune and it says my system in optimized but I haven't really noticed any increase in speed with the added ram. Are there any tips or tweaks to take advantage of the additional ram?

Well you are running Windows 3.11 so adding more memory would really just allow you to shrink the swap file size and that could be an advantage because it can save a lot of hard drive space(if the computer is that old the drive isn't too big is it...) But because you have a 50MHz 486 you should try putting Windows 95 on that system now.

tph87 hit the nail on the head.Your simply not doing anything thats stressing the pc or ram so you can see the performance gain. Also 486\50mhz and 24 would make a great win 95 machine. At the very least calmira .This is a must have for any one using win 3.1 in my opinion :)

Thanks for the ideas. When I got this laptop it had 95 but was so slow I dumped 95 and installed 3.1 which is much faster. Only have a 202MB HD so I also got rid of 95 to free up more drive space as well. I have 3.1, three browsers, wp, dos gui, drivers, etc and still haven't used up half of the HD. Win 3.1 doesn't do a lot of splashy graphic and sound things but for basic internet, wp and other basic apps it works fine. Of course I have Calmira. Wouldn't run 3.1 without it. Many of the good features of 95 without all the extra MS crap.
