Tahoma font for 3.x?

Comment:

I was just wondering - is the Tahoma font available for WFW 3.11? I've copied the Windows 2000/XP one across, and whilst it works, it will randomly screw up all the fonts and I assume this is because it is a 32-bit font. It looks nice when it works, but when it doesn't, all the text is missing from the GUI! Is there an older version?

Cheers

there doesn't seem to be a tahoma font in windows 3.x or the office 4.x package either,
however you might have better results if you use the font from a windows 95 or 98 installation

Thanks for the reply. Any idea where I could find the 9x version? (personally I don't recall Tahoma being with 9x, though I am probably wrong) It's been a long time since I had my Win95/98 discs!

by the way, i just noticed that you're running win 3.x in Virtual PC
i wonder whether this could be the cause for the random screwing up you have mentioned, and not windows 3.x itself

Well it could certainly be that. I do remember my 3.x days though, when there used to be font problems (though not related to this - I never attempted back then changing the horrible ugly title bar and icon fonts, which is what I'm trying to use Tahoma with now)

I have to say 3.x does seem very tempremental on VPC, but then it's been years since I used it and it might have always been this way! Anyway have sent my email.

Cheers

the main problem that windows 3.1 has with fonts
is it adds there names to win.ini

you can easily load thousands of fonts
but...
the larger the win.ini file is the longer it takes to load windows...
and after so many you start to have errors
because...
most stringlists have a maximum of only a few thousand lines in windows 3.1
giving win.ini sort of a size limit

wat say?
