OS: win 3.1/ dos 6.2
CPU/Ram: 33mhz/4mb
Product: Compaq Aero
Comment:

I am trying to back up my system before reformatting and have run into a problem with the floppy back up program when I try to run it I receive the following message:

Back up not configured properly, re install or add this line to your SYSTEN.INI file

[386Enh]
DEVICE=[ms-dos path]VFINTD.386

Where would I add the change in my SYSTEM file anywhere at all? And what would the ms-dos path be?

The Aero has a pcmcia floppy drive if that makes any difference.

assuming your system was installed into the default directories
[ms-dos path] should be replaced with c:\dos\
the system.ini file is located in your windows directory i.e. c:\windows
at a dos prompt if you type edit c:\windows\system.ini
and press enter the system.ini file can be opened for editing
scroll down to the section [386Enh]
and add the line
DEVICE=C:\DOS\VFINTD.386
at the end of section
save changes and close the file
now you should be able to run backup after starting windows

my signature does not look like this
