starting from scratch

first i install 6.22 then i install 3.1 then i install cd driver, but get message:not enough drive letters available

Look in your c:\config.sys for an entry that says;
lastdrive=c
If found, change it to a higher letter.
Is your cd driver loading OK, and mscdex.exe too in autoexec.bat?

I believe the default lastdrive letter is E - and the lowest you could set it to would be D (to save a few bytes of memory). Does sound like you need to set lastdrive=f or higher, depending on your system. Are you running drvspace? It has its own lastdrive setting in (I think) drvspace.ini
