How can I create a startup disk for wfw3.11, I have had to boot the comp with a win95 disk and win will not run, I have access to the hard drive.PLEASE HELP

Hi. My suggestion:
Your best bet is to find someone who has the same version of DOS as your system, and take a preformatted floppy to them. Have a boot disk made on that system. You can find out the required version by going to drive C: as you mentioned above, and doing a directory listing (DIR COMMAND) If command.com is still in the root directory, it's time stamp will be the version (likely 6.20 or 6.22). Be sure that your new boot disk is the same version.
(To make a boot disk on the other WIN 3.1 system, place the formatted diskette in drive A:, either go to a dos prompt and type sys a:, or open the file manager and select DISK, then MAKE SYSTEM DISK.)
Good luck.

My other comp. win 98 has an error message everytime I turn it on. When I press the on button..."COMPAQ" dialog comes up then instead of "WINDOWS 98" start up screen...the screen stays all black and has the following message: "Please replace the disk then press any key to continue"; the problem is I don't have a start up disk for it...I don't know what to do...I done everything in my knowledge. Please reply back to help. Thank you.
