Start up disk for Aptiva recovery

CPU/Ram: 128 K

Aptiva 710, 2144/85P. Came with Win 3.1, upgraded to Win 95 then 98. Ran for years. Recently damaged something, suspect Config.sys and autoexec.bat; can't get past the IBM logo on start up, no error messages. Need a start up disk in order to use the Aptiva Recovery CD. Help?
