Well what I tried is removing the BIOS chip-trying power on then replacing it!All to no avail what im banking on is each leg of the chip refering to a different electrical circuit, which it checks and verifies on screen so i will now use a small voltmeter to check each leg, with a small current also just to see if there is a mechanism like a small switching device inside the chip-Anyone ever heard of reseting a BIOS chip??? Or how to do this if it is possible?? Get back to you with results Dave the snake

Are you trying to erase all the information off of the chip? And if you are how are you going to put it back on. Taking it off would not be to hard just some strong magnets should or over frying it with voltage but how are you going to reset it after it is erased?

Just for the book, each leg,I presume IN and OUT the other side is a complete circuit which runs to a certain component like C.P.U. or PARITY CIRCUITRY for example, these circuits do not touch each other electriocally so they can be verified -like setting up a bulb and battery to check if a resistor has blown, for example .So we check each leg slowly to find out which circuit has blown or as I suspected there might be a switching device so it doesnt blow permenantly but swithces off or otherwise,or maybe a tiny ,tiny fuse type wire that blows perhaps.Remember this problem was after trying to fit a CD-ROM the diagnostics keep coming up with SYSTEM CONFIGURATION FAILURE then a freeze before bootup and an unrecognised floppy drive which has been checked as O.K. as are the cables.
