I like old computers almost to a loss. I got this old Toshiba Satellite T2135CS for free, with no battery, a slightly glitched screen, and a cracked case...but otherwise in good condition. I duct taped the case together, and turned it on to a VERY slow Windows 95. Some of the remaining OEM software pointed to some driver and software disk utilities, but I couldn't find them. So, I just assumed it would be ok and installed windows 3.1 (as the software hinted was the original OS). It doesn't have a CD drive (i expected it), but I'm VERY low on Floppy disks and want to try and get my copy of Office 5 on there. I did this on other old computers by copying all the files to the hard drive and renaming the folder to DISK2/3/4/ect. As it cant use the CD (and I dont have the 16 or so disks needed), I'm wondering how to do it?
also, I'm wanting to get some internet on here (i've heard that it isn't as exciting as other versions, but who cares, I'm so retro it doesn't matter), and it doesn't have built in modem or networking card, so I asked around and have someone going to give me a PCMCIA(sp?) card for ethernet. My problem would be in the fact that the OEM software contained a software for automatically detecting all popular PC Cards, and I now dont have this software. I'll post later on what card I get or any other problems I encounter, but would enjoy an answer to the Office question. (I only have 5 free, and up to 15 if necessary)
Just a bit too reto

you should get windows for workgroups v3.11, it has better networking features.
in some cases, you can copy the setup files in just one folder and install from there.
you can download IE5 and win16 files from here:

I can get 3.11, but do I really need it? I'd hafta get another Floppy (already in short supply) and reload everything. If its not absolutely necessary, i'd like to pass. (I mean, as long as I have the ability to install the PCMCIA card and tweak the MAC address, IP address, and the like, i'll be good.)
And thanks for the Oldfiles link...I was needing the 32subsystem and the like. and I guess I'd need IE5 to do internet.

Ok, I finally got the PCMCIA card. Its a Linksys NetworkEverywhere NP100. However, the cord that goes off the end of it is missing, and all the cords we tried dont want to interface correctly. Does anyone know about maybe hacking a USB ethernet adapter to work with it, or hardwiring an ethernet cable to the card?
Just a bit too reto
