i'm looking for a win 3.1 program with the same functionality of 'scandisk.exe'. i just figured out why my browsers crash. i get corrupted files in my cache directory. i tried moving the cache folder to a different drive but it still happens (ie5/netscape/opera3.62). whenever i'm surfing and any of these browsers crash, i know right away i have to exit windows then run scandisk to fix the problem then restart windows again. i'd like to just fix it while i'm in windows, without loosing connection to isp.

Could be wrong, but I don't think you can run low-level disk diagnostics from a mult-tasking environment - at least, not ones compatable with DOS/Win31.

Yes, i've seen that too. But the reason you get lost clusters on your disk in the browsers cache is because of the crash. The browsers don't crash because of corrupted files in the cache. The thing is when a browser crashes, some files in the cache can be left with no update in the file allocation table, and scandisk will detect them as "lost clusters", but it is not the cause of the crash.
