Can anyone restore a *.001 backup file with their windows 3.11 and send it back to me via email? I need to use the restored file on my Windows XP computer but have no way of restoring it from my old computer. Thanks, Jim

The .001 disk is one of a set of backup disks made during a backup session. There is no way someone else is going to guess what is on it. Also what version of backup was it done on.

.001 sounds like an old MSBACKUP or Norton Backup format. In either case (as wizard-fred stated) you'd need the entire set of backup disks since the index is usually stored on the last disk.

Definitely looks like a backup made with the old Win 3.x backup utility. You could try using the file MWBACK.EXE from my Powerload Win 3.x page and see if you can restore the set with it. The file contains the utility needed to restore your set, but i never tried using it in XP.
