I was trying to play around with the explorer.exe file so I could change my start menu button text, and when I was in dos mode i renamed the explorer.exe file to explorer.old, but then forgot what directory the new explorer.exe file I wanted to use was. So without thinking I restarted to check where it was, but now I dont have a explorer.exe file and windows won't boot. I can get as far as the log in part where I enter my password but not any farther. I created a boot up disk in hopes to boot up and get to dos and simple change the explorer.old back to explorer.exe, but its not allowing me to get there. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should do that would be greatly appreciated.

yeah...you need to edit your winini file in dos to show "progman.exe" as the shell...and then when you boot up win98 it will load up the win3.1 style interface instead of the explorer.exe, and then you can rename explorer.old and rename it explorer.exe...and then reset your shell to explorer.exe
