When I insert 1.44 floppy disk A:....It reads on a blue screen- Please insert disk No Name with serial nuber 3065-12E8 in drive A: Press Enter for Ok or Esc to cancel Ok....... I need expert advice here
I've been at this for hours trying to figure this out if I keep up this I'm afraid I'm just going to make things worse....Please help me....as I need my floppy disk working again...much appreciated p/s if I could figure this out myself I would'nt bother anyone on this forum.... but I've come to a dead end with this....Big Al

Al woulddn't it be just easier to remove the ls120 or the fdd to solve this problem.
There is obviously a conflict between the two.

Hmmm.....I thought this might be the cause too // but I checked the system out and there are no conflicts...everythings working and this is what puzzles me cause this is the first place to look for any hardware problem //I've been into the bios and that still don't help me none....like I said earlier I've come a dead end.. and the funny thing is I don't have another floppy disk drive to install in it at the moment //It works fine with the superdisks 120mg...Oh.well someone out there will come up with a solution to this I hope....In the mean time I'll sit on the side and see what happens....If nothing comes along there's one last resort ...Fdisk and format...but I'll lose everything.....Thanks Big AL

I'll also need to know how to backup my inportant stuff if it comes to that last resort...can this be done just by copying the desktop icon or do I have to find whole file and how do I do this???....Thanks........

I know you have a problem with your LS-120.
I am wondering if it has in its options an
EJECT selection. If you eject than the OS
knows that the disk is not present. I think
it wants the old disk to close files or FAT.
Actually it is dangerous to eject removeable
media without telling the OS first. I don't
remember from you posts if you had corrupted
files.Any try EJECT before removeing disk.

Hi Big Al:
I would see if another floppy boot disk (like Win 98 startup disk) works, if not you could try using a standard 1.44mb floppy (master setting) for a: & the ls120 for b: (slave setting). This way each drive should work for the floppy disk it was designed to run. The ls120 should work for 1.44mb disks, but since standard floppy drives are much cheaper I would use it for 1.44mb & save ware & tear on the ls120 drive. If you want to make backups you will also need a standard floppy drive for msbackup.exe (in DOS) or mwbackup.exe (in Win 3.1) to work. You'll need to run a test for floppy drive before program will work, don't think the ls120 will work on backup test program (never used one, guessing).Good luck.

Hi again Big Al:
If you go with the master/slave setup you'll need a floppy drive bracket for the 5.25" opening for standard bay, & you might need an extension (straight ribbon cable {no twist}, use a floppy cable with a female connector on one end & male on the other). You'll need to connect the female to slave (male on ribbon cable) & male to drive.Good luck.

I've taken Hmmm advice... as I did inject the LS-120 without thinking as I was in a hurry to get that 286 done and screwed up my own computer I thought maybe it had dirty heads so I cleaned it with one those cotton type cleaners [Dry]and noticed there was a fair size chunk missing off the cleaning disk ...[I'll never use those things again]...And then when I tryed again it would'nt work no more... I think it wrecked the heads on it or threw it out of alignement...As I know nothing about aligning these up again myself... I'll just take it back where I got it and see how much it is to get fixed or stick it on the wall for another ornament.....Thanks for all the information ....It helped me alot...Big AL
