I am using windows 3.1 and word 6.0. when i am starting word or opening a word file i get the message" out of memory". But i have enough RAM and disk free space

Check out your basic 640kb. If you have any TSR programs running in the background, close them. Also,make sure Windows is running in enhanced mode rather than standard. If you start Dr. Watson{from the Windows directory} and recreate the error message you get upon entering Word, it may give you a hint as to where your problem lies.
