Whenever I turn on my pc (it has Windows 3.1), I keep getting an "error loading 256_1280.drv" message. Can anyone help me? Can I replace this driver and fix the problem? Windows won't even open because of this error.

sc, this is a video card error. it's due to either an incorrectly-installed driver (not the one for your card), or the resolution is set higher than the card's capabilities.

for now, you can use windows' default display driver, VGA. go to dos, type "cd c:\windows" . then type "setup" . when the screen comes up, cursor up to "display type", hit , then scroll down until you see "VGA". follow the directions to save the change. it may prompt you for one or more windows 3.1x disks.
