I need a source of low cost printers that can print from a win 3.1 operating system via a serial or parallel port, colour print not required just good quality text onto sheet paper, not dot matrix.

My experience is pretty limited to a newer hp inkjets. Usually have no problem telling windows or DOS that it's a HP500c and everything works just fine; but, no guarantees here.

Other Canon, Epson, and assorted pin printer drivers will allow the use of a laser or inkjet printer for text and graphics but I simply have no real experience with 'em.

I have a DeskJet 842C that came with Win 3.1 drivers and works fine.

Just search e-bay. I picked up a HP 500 Deskjet with 3.1 drivers for 99p!
