let me tell you this, i have been trough a hell of a week :p. first my pc crashed dramatically, due to a hardware error, i tried to quickrestore my pc, but teh problem was, i couldn't get into windows anymore, so now my whole pc is formatted, with NOTHING on the c:\ disc, and i'm wondering how to install dos 6.0 , and then i should install win 3.11 and after that win 98, and finally after that win xp :). but now my questions are--->

1. How do i install dos on my pc? (i am able to boot it, but how do i put it on my c:\?)

2.How do i install win 3.11 , i guess with my floppy discs, i've got 9 of them :) and i have been able to install win 3.11 but i couldn't run it because it said: wrong dos version? plz help me out if you can

thxxxxxxxxxxx in advance :)

If your Dos disks are not bootable, you'll have to get a boot disk for your version of Dos and use it to get to the A:\> prompt. At A:\> prompt insert disk one of your Dos set and type: "setup". After Dos is installed, follow the same procedure for Windows.
One small note: I don't think Windows 98 is upgradable from Windows 3.1. If you are using upgrade disks to do the install, I believe you'll have to have Windows 95B or greater to be able to use Windows 98 upgrade.

WAIT!!!!! I like what you was saying up untill the "install XP" part. Why would you want to put XP on your system if you have 3 outher muc better choices. If you realy need a good gui then go 98'.If you want a faster pc for internet and productivity go 3.1,and if you want a good pc that is stable and will never crash agine dont go any further than DOS.If you want to have to do this over and over every couple weeks then by all means go XP.I have every windows OS from DOS 1 to XP (it was givin to me by someone who found out the hard way) and I know as a fact that XP is nothing but more mony for micro$oft.

on my windows 98 upgrade box it says..."for users of windows 95 and windows 3.1"....so at least one version was made for upgrade from 3.1
