Insert your boot disk and start your machine. When you are at the command prompt, type SYS C: This will transfer the system files over to your hard drive making it bootable.

Before you installed 3.1, did you install DOS on the drive first? What does it say when you attempt to start with a boot disk?

Windows 3.1 is just a GUI, it is not an OS. You need to have DOS 3.3 or above installed for 3.1 to work.

I forgot to mention, you must have it set in your BIOS to boot from the floppy drive first.

When I start my computer up I get a Boot disk error, insert start up disk.
I thought it was my hard drive, so I bought a new one but it gives me the same error whether it is the new, the old one, or without one at all.

Please help.
Dave
