Comment: I recently installed windows 3.1 on my computer, and after i installed it it said to reboot, and i said yes, it rebooted, dos didnt even start, and it said non system disk error, and there was no disk in drive a:\ please help how to get out of that.

Reply: (edit)Insert your boot disk and start your machine. When you are at the command prompt, type SYS C: This will transfer the system files over to your hard drive making it bootable.

Reply: (edit)Before you installed 3.1, did you install DOS on the drive first? What does it say when you attempt to start with a boot disk? Windows 3.1 is just a GUI, it is not an OS. You need to have DOS 3.3 or above installed for 3.1 to work.

Reply: (edit)When I start my computer up I get a Boot disk error, insert start up disk. I thought it was my hard drive, so I bought a new one but it gives me the same error whether it is the new, the old one, or without one at all. Please help. Dave
