Mmkay, I have this old laptop here (Toshiba Satellite 110CS), and it has no sound except for the PC squeaker. I'm wondering if there is such a thing as an old PCMCIA Sound Blaster that would work with 3.11. Even something compatible, most of the stuff I have on the laptop (especially games) would require a SB or 100% compatible card. I can never seem to find any PCMCIA sound cards on eBay, and the ones I do find are overpriced, seem to bid up to high prices quickly, and are nowhere near a Sound Blaster.

P.S. A Type II card would be preferred since I already have a card in one of the slots, but Type III cards are not as common anyway.

Even if I could read the language (if it's not English, forget it ;), I don't feel I'm quite up to the task. Something actually fitting the description in my first post would be preferred.

well I too have also looked for one and found nothing

I do think they exist but I dont think you will find one :-(

your only other option is the PCspeaker wave driver it will give you tinny 8-bit 11khz audio

A couple of years ago I found a parallel port soundcard on EBAY for my wife's 486 Toshiba Satellite laptop. It is a LogiTech AudioMan. I haven't seen any others around, I guess people hang on to them. It is not a great soundcard but it works. All the software for it is for Win 3.1 but it also works for Win 95.

Good luck

I have the same problem with a Toshiba Satellite 1625 running Windows 98 1st Ed. I am looking for a 32 (or less) bit PCMCIA sound card, with a driver (or otherwise supported by Win98 1st Ed.) Any suggestions or workable alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
