I have an old computer (with Windows 3.1)that gives me a blank blue screen with a password prompt on start up. There is no DOS screen so I cannot use the command prompts and the boot diskkete and CD don't work. I have no idea what the password is. How can I make this computer work. Please help.

You'll have to clear the CMOS and return it to factory defaults.
Open the system case and look on the motherboard for a jumper pin group that's labeled "CLR CMOS" or similar. It's usually a three pin group, with the jumper on pins 1 & 2. Move the jumper block to pins 2 & 3, turn on the power for three to five seconds, then turn it off and move the jumper block back to pins 1 & 2. This should "clear" the cmos back to factory defaults.
If you can't find the above on the motherboard, try removing the cmos battery for a few hours.

Get hold of the correct disks all nine of them-load them-- change for the configuration you want then edit C the autoexec .bat file and adjust it or change it.Have left you a message about technical advice on your athene111@hotmail E-Mail address--read it carefully and get back to me with your overland postal address if you are interested.

New name Dave? You should change your format a bit; "Have left you a message about technical advice on your XXXXXXXXXX E-Mail address--read it carefully......"
And, what the heck are you talking about? Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the posters problem. Or are you mixed up on your replies?

Actually I got reprimanded by J Weber and it matters --he is a very fair chap,I guess it was you who grassed me up.Fair cop I like this forum.

Not clear on what you mean by that. If you mean you think it was I who "reported" you or something to that effect, you're wrong.
As far as I'm concerned, you've done nothing to be reported for. The only point/concern I have is that you're sending unsolicited mail answers to people, which #1, may irritate them, #2, the advice you're providing is not available to the rest of the forum community, and to future readers of the topics, & #3, ~if~ the advice you're providing is somehow wrong and could lead to disasterous results for someone, the other posters don't have a chance counter the action.
