I picked up an appleIIe a bit ago, and noticed the printer cable had pins at each end. could this be used as a laplink cable?

PS:the appleIIe is for sale minus the printer cable and printer. w/ appleworks, lazerwriter, and tons of manuals.

hmm i suppose if they had a connection that was the same as the parallel port but it could wreck your computer if you try to link the 2 ports (1 on 1 comp 1 on the other) you may need to have a certain type of cable like they do with usb cables but i'm not sure but just to be safe i wouldn't risk it.

Apple printer cables have similar connectors to PS2, they are bi-directional for Apples only. If you have a cable with a similar connector to a Parallel port it is probably a SCSI extension cable. The only way to talk between a Mac and WfW is via ethernet connection, if the Apple has the hardware to support this.........

Apple do not use 25pin Parallel ports, it is probably a 25pin SCSI cable:

Homer,

The cable you have is:

1. A SCSI patch cable

or

2. Totally unrelated to the IIe

x86 is 101% correct.

We are the guys who would not pay $25 for an Apple IIe ten years ago.
