Comment: This old Packard Bell model "Axcel 43" is a 486 dx2-50 Mhz. It has a proprietary Panasonic/Matsus---a cd-rom plugged into the Aztech Galaxy Pro 16I sound card (serial # ends with 824) instead of plugging into the motherboard. Win 95 boot disk doesn't work since it can't find the cd-rom, cause the boot disk doesn't realize the sound card is between the cd-rom and the motherboard. I *think* I need win95 driver for the sound card, or win95 floppies, or win3.1 floppies to start there and then upgrade to win95. Because this old thing is a Packard Bell- they're defunct- I can't really find manufacturer support. Thanks for trying to help! Joe

Reply: (edit)Hi, It sounds as if you have a sound card with a CD-ROM controller built into its circuitry. The old double speed CDs were exlusively used in this manner I think? Anyway, see if you can determine the chipset used on that sound card, and then visit the AZTECH website to d/l the applicable driver. Good luck!

Reply: (edit)Just loaded one of those by pluggin the hard drive into another computer, copying the Win95 folder to it from the CD, reinstalling the drive, and running setup.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the help. I've been to Aztech's site- chipset 2316- and will try loading the driver they have. I also went to Panasonic's site for the cr563 and got a 3.1/dos driver there. Maybe it will take care of things. I s'pose plugging the hard drive into another computer may be my recourse if all else fails. Thanks again!
