Hi guys!

Now I'm the one, who has a Problem and no idea how to solve it. ;-)
I tried using Outlook from the IE 5.0 for Windows 3.11. As a result I can say: Netscape is far better...
Because: When I try to send a HTML-Mail or a Mail with an attached file, it doesn't work, when I try to send it. I have no idea, what could be wrong.. Any of you got any ideas how to fix this. It's a real trouble, because I installed it onto another PC, which is not mine and the owner is very angry. *brr* ;-)
I just thought: I'll upgrade the IE 3.0 because of the Y2K-Bug... Oh, I was so stupid.. *g*
Next time, I'll use Netscape, promise! :)

If you install only OE5 it won't work, it needs components from IE5 itself to send html etc. You will also need at least 16MB of Ram on the machine to which you installed OE5, hmmm, best thing is to uninstal it, there should be instructions included in the package you installed. Failing that, you may need to get the full IE5 16 bit distribution, which is available from the Microsoft Year 2000 resource CD. Best of luck

Humm... I thought, 32MB of RAM would be enough... But you are right: Sometimes, when I open another application when OE 5.0 is open, it says, that there is a lack of memory. But with 32MBs of ram?
My conventional memory is also optimized by myself and there are nerla 600 K free.
The swap-File is also big enough..
And IE 5.0 is also installed.
And at least I think, I have installed the FULL distribution.
One more thing is, that, when I installed IE 5.0 over IE 3.0, it just made the system crash several times after installation (some times, there was a black screen with garbage on it and I had to reboot several times=.
Now it doesn't crash so often, but it seems, that there is still something not right (because it sends no attached files.)
When I try to send attached files, it
just does nothing. It doesn't hang, but i can only interrupt the mail-sending. I waited for nearly half an hour to get sure, that there is really no action.

I think I should get rid of this f*****g IE 5.0 and install Netscape! But anyway, can you please help?

Thanks! :-)

32 MB should be enough, try uninstalling IE5. It's possible due to debris left over from IE 3.0 that your system is a bit messed up. You may be better advised to remove Windows altogether and reinstall it fresh. Netscape did have a Personal Edition including Shiva dialer software, with a clean copy of Windows you should have no problems installing Netscape. IMO it's better to sepnd two hours reinstalling Windows than all day trying to get messed up software to work. From your post I see that you don't own the machine, so you may need to approach the owner *very* carefully. Particulerly explain that a fresh install will make his system appear *much* faster...

little helper: when i installed ie 5.01, i installed it NOT overtop of ie 3, but rather in its own default directory (ie50). i've used it a bit, and had no problems; as a matter of fact, it crashes less than netscape does, almost never actually. can't answer your question about the attachments though.....perhaps it's garbage left over from ie 3, in which case, installing it in its own directory might cure the problem.
